The Certificate Course in Maritime Catering (CCMC) is a specialized 6-month pre-sea training program for students who wish to join the Saloon Rating department of the Merchant Navy. This course prepares individuals to handle the catering and housekeeping departments on various types of merchant ships. It focuses on culinary arts, food safety, and maritime regulations, ensuring that students can provide high-quality food and hospitality services to the ship's crew and officers while maintaining strict hygiene standards.
This is a fast-track vocational course approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Govt. of India. The training is residential and extremely disciplined, simulating the life of a seafarer. Students undergo rigorous practical training in galley (shipβs kitchen) operations, along with mandatory STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) safety courses.
